"3 Idiots" is a popular Indian comedy-drama film released in 2009. The movie is directed by Rajkumar Hirani and stars Aamir Khan, R. Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Boman Irani. It's loosely based on the novel "Five Point Someone" by Chetan Bhagat.

The story revolves around three friends: Rancho (Aamir Khan), Raju (Sharman Joshi), and Farhan (R. Madhavan), who meet at a prestigious engineering college in India called Imperial College of Engineering. While the college is known for its rigid and traditional approach to education, Rancho believes in a more practical and creative way of learning.

Rancho becomes an inspiration to his friends as he challenges the conventional methods of teaching and encourages them to follow their true passions and dreams. He constantly clashes with the strict and authoritative college director, Viru "Virus" Sahastrabuddhe (Boman Irani).

Throughout the film, the story jumps between the present and the past, showing the friends' college days and their present lives. In the past, the three friends face various challenges, academic pressures, and personal struggles. They also get involved in romantic relationships, with Farhan falling for Pia (Kareena Kapoor Khan), the college director's daughter.

Rancho's unconventional methods and ideologies clash with the college system, leading to conflicts and misunderstandings. The friends embark on a journey to find Rancho, who disappeared after graduation, and they discover the real reason behind his disappearance.

The film highlights important themes such as the pressure of academic excellence, the importance of following one's passion, the flaws in the education system, and the pursuit of happiness and true knowledge.

"3 Idiots" is known for its humor, emotional moments, and social commentary. It became a massive success in India and internationally, resonating with audiences and receiving critical acclaim for its engaging story and performances.
